Integrated public transport system in the Metropolitan Region
Stretching across more than 14,000 km², the Verkehrsverbund Großraum Nürnberg (VGN) is the second largest integrated public transport system in Germany in terms of surface area and transports over 223 million passengers every year.
Daily commuter connections and excellent short-distance public transport access are clear criteria of transport-related, economic and structural cohesiveness. Of all the advantages the metropolitan region has to offer, the integrated fare and public transport system probably has the most direct effect on the local and regional population on a daily basis.
For this reason, the system also has a very clear goal: to extend its reach throughout the entire Nuremberg Metropolitan Region.
